This is an outstanding, easy to read, description of the model that will ultimately be successful in healthcare. During 40 years in healthcare, i have participated in thee development of this model in two locales and know it to be effective and efficient. Most importantly, this model assures that mental health health needs will be addressed, an issue often ignored by a private practitioner. This is a must read for those wishing to develop or change to a proven, effective model It is also a good learning tool for patients wishing to understand how healthcare should be delivered. The biggest argument against universal healthcare has always been, “Why should I pay for health insurance for poor people?” Guess what? We already are! Hospitals can’t turn down patients because they don’t have insurance and with the current system, disadvantaged people only seek healthcare when they are extremely ill. At that point, healthcare is outrageously expensive. Trusted Healers makes you realize that a lifetime of healthcare will cost pennies compared to the acute/crisis care levels that we pay for now!

And beyond insights of that nature you have the simply amazing story of Dr Paul Grundy. The man deserves serious consideration for Nobel Prize. I kept finding myself stopping and re-reading about some of the healthcare successes that this tireless man has played a key role in. The relationships he has forged are incredible.

I don’t often read books like this, but I am so glad a friend told me that it was a very important book to read. It truly was exactly that.

Fascinating! What does the AIDS crisis in Africa have to do with health care in America? Everything.

This book woke me up to what it will take to truly empower my own health and that of my family and community. I had no idea that tribal healers helped avert the AIDS epidemic in Africa by empowering large numbers of people to change their behavior. I had only a vague sense of the parallels between the AIDS epidemic and the global chronic disease epidemic, and I was unaware of the emerging solution. I now understand that I need to take much more responsibility for my own well-being if I am to access the solution. I will never look at health care the same way again.
